Le Bourgeois Gentilhomme is a play about a play. For more than 300 years, this play has been performed, satirizing the aristocracy and bourgeois through ridiculous lessons that Jourdain, an old bourgeois man, receives and we have found a new value hidden behind all that. While original work of the 17th century ridiculed the class that does not even exist at this point, we saw the play in a perspective with which the playwright was already looking at the world of the 18th century. We believed that the work was penetrating through the unending core of the issues of men and focused on bringing out the ideas and values hidden underneath in the play. So, the performance is directed in a way that will highlight the parts of the play that best describes the traits of 17th century and the playwright himself, through the acts of Jourdain. Korea-France collaboration set its goal in creating a completely new work out of the original play. We thoroughly analyzed the lines of the characters and based everything on the findings we earned through the process. We threw away the ideas that were given to us and rather concentrated on looking at the pleasure of fantasies and the interesting process of making it come true. Jourdain was theatrical character we could imagine and the events that happened around him were like an amusement that we can dream of and create ourselves. If audiences can lose the ideas they already had on this play and come to watch the performance, I believe that it will grant them the experience novelty and diversion, just like what it did to us.
